The Genius & the Evil Daimon

The twenty-two Hebrew letters are cast around the heavens, one to a degree. Cast from the first degree of Aries with the order of the signs, the letters falling on the five Hylegian places of your nativity spell your Genius. Cast backward from the last degree of Pisces, they spell your Evil Daimon.

Why “read as” is one higher: a chart counts degrees from zero, like a clock counts minutes, but the letters are cast on the first through thirtieth degrees of each sign. A planet at 22°57′ Taurus has finished 22 degrees and is standing in the 23rd, so it takes the letter of the 23rd degree. This is the “round up to the next degree” in the guide, and the generator does it for you — don’t add one yourself. If you’re reading the tables by hand, look up the “read as” number.
